No hidden processes, no secret data selling. Here you learn exactly how YT2MP3 works, which services we use and how we protect your data.

How YT2MP3 works technically

You enter a YouTube URL. Our server validates the URL and checks if the video is accessible.

We use yt-dlp (Open Source) to download the audio stream. FFmpeg converts the audio to MP3 with the selected quality.

The finished MP3 is temporarily stored on our server — maximum 24 hours. Automatic deletion afterwards.

You download your file. After download, the file is immediately deleted. No permanent storage on our servers.

yt-dlp and FFmpeg are open-source software. You can review the code on GitHub at any time.

We exclusively use established, trustworthy third-party services.

Authentication & Login

We use Firebase exclusively for secure user authentication (Email & Google). No Firestore, no Analytics — Auth only.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely via Stripe. We never store credit card data on our servers. PCI DSS compliant.

Server Infrastructure

Our servers run at Hetzner Cloud in Germany (Nuremberg/Falkenstein). All data stays within the EU.

AI-Powered Metadata

For PRO & UNLIMITED users, we use OpenAI GPT to extract accurate music metadata (artist, title, album, genre) from the video title.

Playlist Import (Coming Soon)

In the future, we will offer Spotify playlist import. This feature is in development. No Spotify data is currently processed.

Converted audio files are automatically deleted after download. Files not retrieved are automatically cleaned up after 24 hours.

We only use technically necessary cookies (session, auth token). No marketing cookies, no cross-site tracking, no data selling.

All data is processed and stored on servers in Germany. We strictly comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

You can request information about your stored data or complete deletion at any time. Simply send an email request.

YT2MP3 is a tool for personal use. Downloading copyrighted material without permission from the rights holder may be illegal in your country.

Please respect YouTube's Terms of Service, which restrict automated downloading of content.

Only use this service for content you have the rights to, e.g. your own videos, Creative Commons content, or royalty-free music.
